Scott Jackson founded Wealthlab in 2014 because he saw too many Australians getting financial advice that was built around products, not people. He wanted to build something different, a firm where clients get direct access to their adviser, where the advice is tailored to the client, and where every strategy starts with what the client actually needs rather than what a licensee wants to sell.
Fourteen years into his career as a financial planner, that founding principle hasn’t changed. Scott and the Wealthlab team work primarily with pre-retirees and retirees who want a structured, clear plan for the next chapter. Whether it’s mapping out how super and pension drawdowns work together, structuring an SMSF, or working through Centrelink and Age Pension eligibility, Scott’s approach is the same: explain the options in plain English, show the numbers, and let the client decide.
Wealthlab operates fully online, which means clients in Adelaide, regional SA, or anywhere else in Australia get the same quality of advice and the same level of access. You can text, call, or WhatsApp your adviser when a question comes up, there’s no receptionist or call centre in between. Scott leads a team of seven, including co-host and Senior Financial Planner Phil Sproule, a dedicated paraplanner, a client liaison, and support staff who handle onboarding and administration so the advisers can focus on advice.
Outside of client work, Scott and Phil co-host the Wealthlab Podcast, which reaches over 240,000 people every month across YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts. They use it to break down super, pensions, and retirement planning in the same plain-English style they use with clients, so you can see exactly how they think before you ever book a meeting.
Wealthlab is a self-licensed boutique firm operating through MiPlan Advisory Pty Ltd (AFSL 485478), meaning the advice isn’t restricted to a bank’s product list. Scott is a verified adviser on the ASIC Financial Advisers Register (Adviser No. 000425977) and holds a Platinum rating on Adviser Ratings.
