Janelle Kirk – Central Coast Financial Planning Group
Senior Financial Adviser Janelle Kirk is clearly passionate about supporting people to realise their financial goals.
With more than 50 years in the finance industry, including over two decades in the banking sector – 11 spent with the CBA; and over 20 years as a financial planner, Janelle has developed strong quality relationships based on trust.
While working within the banking industry Janelle identified the need for financial planning services, especially for the aging population.
“As I moved with them through life I recognised there were a lot of pitfalls for those who couldn’t see what could be done to make the most of their retirement – what I usually call – ‘to retire smiling’.”
Wanting to embrace a holistic approach to supporting people with their financial future Janelle pursued further study to qualify as a Certified Financial Planner, and holds a Masters in Financial Planning and Graduate Certificate of Business Research.
As part of the team, Janelle provides advice in a range of areas including pre-retirement and retirement planning; and specialist advice in aged care.
“My approach may be different depending on where a person is in their life journey. It really is about listening to them to learn what is important to them and what they want to achieve.
When Janelle is asked ‘when’ should someone engage with a financial planner, her advice is – “the earlier you start the better”.

John commenced his career in accounting in 1995 with mid tier Sydney CBD based firm, in the Accounting & Business Services Division. Whilst working there John took a particular interest in the specialist accountancy related IT needs of the firm, and transferred to the IT Division in a role as the Accountancy Applications Administrator and as a Network Administrator. When approached by NASDAQ listed accountancy software provider – Epicor Software, he took up an offer to move across to North Sydney as a Senior Support Consultant.
With a unique knowledge of accountancy, IT and small business, John left Epicor to start a company selling, installing and administering accountancy products to business. John expanded this business to provide process management consultancy to business, whereby he would utilise IT solutions to improve business efficiencies in order to reduce costs to business, increase staff productivity and increase profitability.
After spending 6 months traveling through Europe touring Normandy and the western front battlefields in 2002, John returned to Australia to sell his interest in his IT company and dramatically change course by joining the army, where he served in the special forces at 2 Commando Regiment (4RAR Cdo) for 5 years. During this time John saw deployment in Afghanistan, Timor and Fiji.
Upon leaving the army in 2007, John returned to the financial sector, working as business manager, investment analyst and financial planner.
John has completed numerous qualifications including a Bachelor of Business, a Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance & Investment through Finsia. After completing his degree in business with many legal subjects, John continued to complete the majority of a law degree specialising in commercial, contract, and tax law. After completing all but the dry boring subjects of constitutional law and legal process, and deciding that he did not want to actually practice Law, John decided to instead study a Master of Applied Finance & Investment with Kaplan, and study subjects which were of use to him.
John also studied for a Diploma of Biblical Studies at Moore Theological College, whilst acting as a Church Warden and youth group leader at his local church, and religious teacher in local public schools, before deciding he did not have a religious calling and decided to join the army instead!
Raised on a farm outside Dubbo, John moved to Sydney to attend boarding school and university, where he met Lisa in 1996. After moving to the Central Coast in 2007 they married in 2008, had a daughter, Tahlia, in 2009, and a son, Jet, in 2013.
In his spare time, John enjoys going out to restaurants, watching the soccer and supporting the Mariners, taking his boat for a spin on Brisbane Water, Investing in direct equities through his Superannuation Fund and Family Trust, and playing with his Labrador, Tessa.
John is involved with the community through his involvement with the RSL and in assisting veterans with their compensation claims through the Department of Veteran’s Affairs.
