He has a keen personal interest in Self Managed Superannuation and Transition to Retirement advice and manages both of these important areas in the practice.
Anthony has taken a leadership role within the industry having served the wider Financial Wisdom Adviser community on the Adviser Forum since 1998. This role has ensured strong relationships with both the Group management team and also with leading product manufacturers and suppliers. In recognition of his long-standing relationship and his professional approach to managing a successful financial planning practice, Financial Wisdom extended an offer to him to join Financial Wisdom Premium as a foundation member when it was first launched in 2006.
He has been a Financial Planner since 1991. In that time, he has completed his studies and is a “Certified Financial Planner” (CFP accredited) with the Financial Planning Association. In December 2011, Anthony, along with Grant Simpson and David Harris, established Advice Evolution Pty Ltd. Advice Evolution is a dealer group that is independently owned and operated and is completely free of any influence from any large financial institution or bank. This is an important evolutionary step as all of us who feel that a client’s best interests can only be met in an environment where there are no behind the scenes expectations of product placement or influence towards one product over another. Invariably this is what occurs in dealer groups owned and operated by those large financial institutions.

David’s path to become a Financial Planner became clear many years ago.
He grew up in the inner northern suburbs of Melbourne in a family of small business operators, this fuelled his motivation to one day build his own business. It instilled a drive for improvement and success, but more importantly exposed him to the realities of the highs and lows of small business.
David has always had a passion for investing. He would use his pocket money to buy basketball cards and comics which he had hoped would appreciate in value in the future. He cuts his teeth in the share market at a young age riding the highs and lows of the dotcom boom. Companies such as Quicktrack, ERG and Sausage Software Solutions are all names that resonate and bring a smile to his face, knowing that his interest was there at such a young age.
At university David initially studied financial analysis because he was intrigued by numbers. As an elective, he attended a tutorial called Investment Planning and Superannuation and that is when his path became clear. David realised that he could really help people to navigate through this complex world and this prompted him to switch his studies to financial planning, which I completed in 2005.
Upon completing his degree, he was immediately offered the opportunity to be part of a wealth management firm in Flemington which he took up without hesitation, allowing him to enter the industry. From there he went to work in Malvern as a Client Service Officer.
After several years, he had managed to work his way up to running the operation. Due to his passion and drive to develop his own business, he felt he was ready to take the chance and go out on his own at the age of 24. He wanted to create a business that he could be proud of. He made sacrifices, faced adversity and pushed through and from here ICG Financial Planning was born.
Today, ICG Financial Planning remains a privately-owned wealth management firm that works exclusively for the comprehensive financial benefit of families and individuals. Their focus is on building personal relationships with their clients that endure over time.
As well as running his own practice, David assists the Financial Planning Association with their Certified Financial Planner (CFP) education program. As part of a panel, he reviews and assesses the proposed examination papers for future CFP exam assessment. He is a regular guest commentator on the Sky News Business Channel as a Financial Adviser and Market Analyst.
David thinks it is important to give back to the community and he is part of a select independent advisory board, donating his services to a large multinational church and its dioceses. His role is to bring expertise from a variety of financial disciplines to assist the parishes, primary and secondary schools and aged care facilities in the various ministries of the church. Also, each year he organises a charity golf competition, and participate in the Royal Children’s Hospital annual Run For The Kids as well as the Mother’s Day Classic for breast cancer research.
It is important to note that David’s principles and values never change: family, honesty, discipline, patience, ambition, attention to detail, pride in their work, and making an impact.

“I have a genuine enjoyment for what I do. Each day is another opportunity to help someone new.”
Senior Adviser Anthony Dhillon works directly with his clients to provide ongoing, strategic investment advice to assist them to achieve their lifestyle and financial goals … both now and in the future.
He specialises in retirement and pre-retirement strategies, SMSFs, investment and personal insurance advice.
The office jokester, he values working in an office where the culture is great, and there are always plenty of jokes and stories to share.
Anthony had a different career before Financial Planning – he was a personal trainer.
But after five years of getting up at 4am to see clients, he decided to pursue financial planning due to a personal interest in managing his own investments.
A few degrees later, he started with the First Financial planner training programme as a technical analyst, and has steadily risen through the ranks.
He says that the satisfaction of helping people in areas which are not their expertise is immense.
“Knowing I can help people achieve their financial goals is a great feeling.”
Anthony values the opportunity to work with new clients to create plans to achieve their goals.
“I feel it is important to be passionate about what you do, whether that be professionally or socially. I get great enjoyment being in the office, which allows me to enjoy myself when I am not in the office.”
And he’s been fortunate enough to have two winners at Flemington, and sharing this experience with his mates was exhilarating.
And when he’s not working, Anthony is truly sports mad … whether it’s live, or on TV, he loves to follow his team and players.
And in an alternate universe Anthony would be Sachin Tendulkar — The Little Master and greatest run scorer in cricket history.
